Great Amwell

Brief: A garden destroyed through construction works, a few truly beautiful feature trees that needed to be made features. The client loved the idea of a really zoned garden and creating pathways through the garden. The client had a strong view on cottage garden as an overall feel but with a lot of existing statues and oriental ornaments we needed to create an area that housed these sensitively. Soon to be grandparents there needed to be a child friendly area of the garden, as a close family the grandchildren will be there regularly

The outcome: The apple tree has become the most prominent feature of the garden with path ways leading to it and having all the rest of the foliage cleared away from it. Having a tree as one of the key focal areas of the garden automatically makes the garden a warm, welcoming space. There are pathways leading the visitor through out the garden and in years to come the high level of cottage garden plants will create fragrance and interest while one walks through the garden. To the rear of the garden there is a small area which has been designed with the grandchildren in mind, next to this is terrace which allows all the family to be together come rain or shine while the children play in this corner of the garden.
